Course Description

BIBLICAL STUDIES (BS)

​

BS401: OT World

This introduces the student to the parallels between the biblical world and its Ancient Near Eastern context in order to give a framework for discerning and understanding biblical theology.

​

BS402: NT World

This introduces the student to the parallels between the biblical world and its Jewish-Hellenistic context in order to give a framework for discerning and understanding biblical theology.

 

BS403: Advanced OT Hermeneutics

Here students engage with key texts in different OT genres, demonstrating their skill in moving from exegesis to exposition.

 

BS404: Advanced NT Hermeneutics

Here students engage with key texts in different NT genres, demonstrating their skill in moving from exegesis to exposition.

 

BS405: Exodus

This engages students with different aspects of exposition on the book and challenges them to demonstrate their understanding of the book’s content and its relevance for ministry.

 

BS406: Isaiah

This engages students with different aspects of exposition on the book and challenges them to demonstrate their understanding of the book’s content and its relevance for ministry.

 

BS407: Luke

This engages students with different aspects of exposition on the book and challenges them to demonstrate their understanding of the book’s content and its relevance for ministry.

 

BS408: Romans

This engages students with different aspects of exposition on the book and challenges them to demonstrate their understanding of the book’s content and its relevance for ministry.

 

 

BS409: Revelation

This engages students with different aspects of exposition on the book and challenges them to demonstrate their understanding of the book’s content and its relevance for ministry.

 

 

THEOLOGICAL STUDIES (TS)

TS401: OT Theology

Here students will learn how to discern the major theological contributions of a book and connect them with other contributions and themes in the OT.

 

TS402: NT Theology

Here students will learn how to discern the major theological contributions of a book and connect them with other contributions and themes in the NT.

 

TS403: OT in the NT

This helps students see the trajectories of OT themes carried over into the NT in order to understand the sweep of redemptive history in unity.

 

TS404: NT Ethics

Here students will explore Richard Hay's book, The Moral Vision of the New Testament, in order to sharpen their theological view of how Christians and the church should live in the world.
